Founded in September 1975, Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) has grown from meetings at Old Fort Jackson in its earliest stages, to successfully managing four historic sites: Old Fort Jackson of course, Georgia State Railroad Museum, Savannah History Museum and Battlefield Memorial Park.
More recently, CHS has begun building Savannah Children’s Museum in two phases. Savannah Children’s Museum’s Exploration Station is a unique 1 acre, 2 level, outdoor exhibit area open since June 2012. The Society has plans well under way for phase II.
While the Society has practiced historic preservation techniques on all of the buildings in its care for more than three decades, in 2003 CHS established its nationally-recognized, award-winning, buildings Preservation Team. Meticulously carrying out steel, masonry, carpentry, and other work on its City-owned buildings, and Old Fort Jackson, the CHS Preservation Team also plans and manages numerous outside projects

What is the street address of the Savannah Children’s Museum?
Hi there! The street address for our parking lot is 655 Louisville Rd. For some reason, GPS isn’t sending people to the right place though… if you turn west onto Louisville from MLK, we’re on your left less than a block down. Thanks! -Liz
